The site is an area previously developed land. The former public house and existing barber’s shop covered the front section of the site. A large proportion of the rear of the site was used as a car park with a grassed area used as the pub’s garden. Juxtaposed to this is the commercial townscape, which consists of large warehouse units (see image below).
